Alex Snow threw seven strikouts and pitched a perfect game… facing 15 batters as the Vikings clinched no worse than second place and a home playoff game with a two-game sweep of Douglas Friday afternoon. Siuslaw worked for a 10-3 victory in game one before coasting in game two… scoring more runs than Snow faced batters… to a 17-nothing shutout win.
The Vikings improve to 10-and-2 in league play. North Bend is also 10-and-2; sweeping Brookings-Harbor. Sutherlin and South Umpqua split a double-header.

On the softball diamond… Siuslaw fell short in game one, losing 8-7 to the Douglas Trojans Friday afternoon in Florence. Game two went to the Trojans also, 21-7. Sutherlin remains atop the Far West league at 10-and-2 followed by Douglas with a 9-and-3 record. Brookings-Harbor is third, followed by South Umpqua, North Bend and then Siuslaw.

Track and Field
On the track… Siuslaw’s Katy Potter eased to a 2nd place finish in the girls’ 15-hundred at Saturday’s Grants Pass Invitational. Mack Marbas won the boys’ 3-thousand with a time of 9:08.46. Mathew Campbell was fourth in the 15-hundred in 4:04.99.
Pac-12 Baseball
Number six ranked Oregon State Baseball extended the win streak to eight and swept the Cal Bears in three games over the weekend at Goss Stadium. Friday it was 6-1, Saturday a five-run shutout, then yesterday the Beavs held off the Bears 6-4. Oregon State will host the Portland Pilots Wednesday at Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer for a non-league game, then head to Stanford this weekend.
In Pullman, the 11th ranked Ducks swept Washington State 5-3, 6-3 and 4-3 to remain a half game behind Oregon State in the Pac-12 standings. The Ducks will head to Columbus, Ohio this weekend for a non-conference series against the Buckeyes.
