CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon teen accused of planning an assault on his high school wrote detailed plans to throw bombs throughout the school and then kill himself. Seventeen-year-old Grant Acord’s plans were written in notebooks round beneath floorboards in the teen’s bedroom, according to court documents released yesterday. Acord was arraigned yesterday via video feed from a juvenile detention center.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An Alaska Airlines passenger accused of trying to open an emergency exit during a flight from Anchorage to Portland told investigators he hasn’t taken medication for his bipolar disorder in more than a year. Twenty-three-year-old Alexander Herrera of Rio Rico, Ariz., did not enter a plea in a court appearance yesterday. But he told police after his arrest Monday that he was possibly schizophrenic.
HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A private jet carrying five people landed safely at a suburban Portland airport despite a problem with the plane’s front landing gear. A spokesman for the Hillsboro Fire and Rescue says the pilot delayed his landing attempt to burn off more than half of an estimated 8,000 pounds of fuel.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say the body of a newborn girl was found in a north Portland recycling center. Detective Kristina Coffey says the body was found yesterday morning at EFI Recycling. The Oregonian reports a state forensic pathologist says the baby was nearly full-term and was alive and breathing at birth.
