Venable’s third game-ending hit drove home Chris Denorfia from third to complete an improbable comeback.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Frederic Piquionne scored four goals, giving Portland Timbers a 5-1 victory over the Wilmington Hammerheads in last night’s third-round U.S. Open Cup match.
