Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

SEATTLE (AP) – Aaron Harang pitched a two-hitter for his second shoutout of the season, leading the Seattle Mariners to a 4-0 victory over the Houston Astros last night. Harang struck out a season-high 10 and retired 16 of the next 17 batters. The only Astros batter to reach during that span was Brandon Barnes on a sixth-inning error.

SEATTLE (AP) – The United States took over first place in its World Cup qualifying group with a 2-0 win over Panama yesterday. Jozy Altidore continued his scoring blitz with a goal in his third straight match. Eddie Johnson thrilled his home club fans with a goal in the 53rd minute. The U.S. will host Honduras next Tuesday in Sandy, Utah.

SEATTLE (AP) – Mike Zunino has become the first position player from the 2012 draft to reach the big leagues when the Seattle Mariners promoted the catcher from Triple-A Tacoma. Zunino the third selection overall, was hitting .238 with 11 home runs and 43 RBIs for the Rainiers when he was called up yesterday.

SEATTLE (AP) – U.S. soccer coach Jurgen Klinsmann made two changes to his lineup last night against Panama, inserting Eddie Johnson and Geoff Cameron into the starting lineup. The changes were necessitated by a concussion suffered by Jermaine Jones against Jamaica and a yellow card suspension to Graham Zusi.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – When the Seattle Seahawks opened their mandatory minicamp yesterday, the questions were solely about injuries. The concerns were about tight end Zach Miller, who walked out onto the practice field with a walking boot on his left foot. Coach Pete Carroll said Miller’s foot was simply sore and that it wasn’t related to the torn fascia he suffered in the foot during last season’s playoffs.
