KODIAK, Alaska (AP) – A Kodiak native has set a milestone for Alaskans running the mile. KMXT reports Kodiak High School native Trevor Dunbar became the first Alaskan to officially run a mile in under four minutes. Dunbar finished in 3:59.06 at the Portland Roughrider Twilight Meet on Monday in Oregon. He will be a senior this fall at the University of Oregon, where he runs cross-country and track.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A University of Oregon student who won $250,000 in a national video-game competition was a guest of Major League Baseball at last night’s All-Star Game in New York. KFLS radio in Klamath Falls reports that 21-year-old Justin Chavarria won MLB 2K13’s Perfect Game Challenge, beating out three other finalists yesterday. One of the finalists, Tyson Sanders of Oregon City, also got a trip to New York.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) – The San Antonio Spurs have agreed to a two-year contract with forward Jeff Pendergraph. The former Indiana Pacers player made the announcement yesterday before. The 6-foot-9 Pendergraph was drafted out of Arizona State by Portland in 2009. He played one season for the Trail Blazers before missing the 2010-11 season with a torn right ACL.
