TROUTDALE, Ore. (AP) – Divers have recovered the body of a small child from the Sandy River at Troutdale. The medical examiner’s office will officially identify the body, but police tell KATU it appears to be the body of 7-year-old Asekur Rahman who was swept away June 30 while playing in the water at Glenn Otto Park.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A Hillsboro teen accused of trying to kill his parents by setting their house afire has been convicted in juvenile court of attempted aggravated murder, arson and assault. Police said they believe the 14-year-old poured an accelerant on the carpet near his parents’ bedroom door, then lit the area with a match on the night of April 19. Sentencing was set for Sept. 3.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A man talking on his cell phone walked into the path of a moving train last evening in downtown Eugene. Police told KVAL the man suffered a leg injury and is expect to survive.

HERMISTON, Ore. (AP) – Hermiston watermelons are heading to markets. The East Oregonian reports the harvest began last week and runs into early October. Jack Bellinger of Bellinger Farms says demand usually peaks around Labor Day.
