BOSTON (AP) – Stephen Drew singled in the winning run in the 15th inning to lift the Boston Red Sox to a 5-4 victory last night over the Seattle Mariners, putting them back into first place in the AL East. Dustin Pedroia drew a leadoff walk and took second on a groundout by David Ortiz. Mike Napoli was walked intentionally and Jarrod Saltalamacchia struck out. Jonny Gomes then walked, loading the bases, and Drew hit a liner just inside the right-field line as Pedroia scored the decisive run.

SEATTLE (AP) – The Seattle Mariners traded minor league infielder Robert Andino yesterday to the Pittsburgh Pirates for a player to be named or cash. Andino began the season with Seattle, appearing in 29 games for the Mariners at three different positions. The 29-year-old hit .184 with five runs scored for Seattle before being outrighted on May 27.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police in Portland say Houston Rockets forward Terrence Jones was arrested yesterday for allegedly stomping on a homeless man’s leg. A police spokesman says a sergeant saw the 6-foot-9 Jones in downtown Portland just after 2 a.m., yelling and then stomping on the man’s leg. The 21-year-old graduate of Portland’s Jefferson High School was booked on a misdemeanor harassment charge and then released. A Rockets spokeswoman said the team had no comment.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – The Seattle Seahawks’ Percy Harvin could miss a big chunk of this season after he gets surgery on his hip. Harvin is scheduled to have the surgery today in New York and the timetable for his recovery won’t be known until afterward. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told the NFL Network yesterday the team believes Harvin will be back this season.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State basketball players Devon Collier and Eric Moreland have been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules. Coach Craig Robinson declined to say which rules were violated when announcing the suspensions this week. Collier and Moreland, who both play forward, can participate in workouts with the team while attending summer classes.
