GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – Grants Pass police have identified a man shot to death as a construction worker who had moved to the city from Salem a few months ago. The Daily Courier reports that Juan Hernandez was shot in the head and his body found down the street from a bar where he had been. Police are asking the public for information about who Hernandez was with that night.

GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) – A man who suffered severe burns when a water scooter exploded in the driveway of his Gresham home is expected to survive. The man was working on the motor Sunday evening when flames erupted. KATU reports the fire spread to a parked car and garage.

SHADY COVE, Ore. (AP) – A vandal with a chain saw cut two picnic tables in half, felled a couple of trees and sliced a hole in the side of a pump house at Aunt Caroline’s Park in Shady Cove. The Mail Tribune reports a $500 reward is offered for information to help Jackson County sheriff’s detectives catch the person responsible.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A blind man who had his iPhone taken out of his hand last week at a Keizer bus stop says he’s received support, including an offer of a replacement. The Statesman Journal reports Joshua Bowen has already replaced the phone which he needs to navigate. He works at the Oregon Commission for the Blind teaching other blind people how to use iPhone applications.
