Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

SEATTLE (AP) – Jered Weaver gave up just three hits in eight strong innings, Kole Calhoun added a two-run homer and the Los Angeles Angels completed a three-game sweep with a 7-1 win over the Seattle Mariners yesterday. The Angels gave Weaver plenty of run support by coming through in clutch situations. All of the Angels’ runs were scored with two outs, including Calhoun’s homer.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) – Shenise Johnson had 17 points and 10 rebounds and the San Antonio Silver Stars held on for a 70-64 victory over Seattle yesterday. The Silver Stars’ win snapped the Storm’s three-game winning streak. Danielle Adams and Jia Perkins each had 14 points for San Antonio. Reserve forward Noelle Quinn had 14 points to lead Seattle.

SEATTLE (AP) – Eddie Johnson flicked a header past Portland goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts off a free kick in the 60th minute, and the Seattle Sounders made Clint Dempsey’s home debut memorable with a 1-0 win last night over the Timbers before the second-largest, stand-alone crowd in Major League Soccer history. The crowd of 67,385 trailed only the first home game for the Los Angeles Galaxy in 1996 that drew 69,255.

SNOQUALMIE, Wash. (AP) – John Riegger won the Boeing Classic yesterday in his fifth Champions Tour start, holding off John Cook and Fred Couples at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge. Riegger birdied three of the final four holes – holing a 20-footer for birdie on the par-5 18th – for a 4-under 68 and a two-stroke victory over Cook. Couples, from Seattle, was third at 11 under after a 66.
