SEATTLE (AP) – Marshawn Lynch scored on touchdown runs of 14 and two yards and added a seven-yard TD reception in the second half, Seattle flustered Colin Kaepernick into his worst passing game as a starter and the Seahawks dominated the San Francisco 49ers in a 29-3 win last night. The game was delayed 60 minutes late in the first quarter when thunderstorms blew through the area. Lynch finished with 135 total yards, including 98 yards rushing.
SEATTLE (AP) – San Francisco lost starting nose tackle Ian Williams to a leg injury suffered in the first quarter against Seattle. Williams was injured when he was being cut block by J.R. Sweezy midway through the quarter last night. Williams’ left ankle was caught underneath as Sweezy made the block on a 2-yard run by Marshawn Lynch. He was down on the field for a few minutes before being helped off by a pair of trainers. The 49ers announced later in the quarter that Williams would not return.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Freshman tight end Johnny Mundt had already impressed his Oregon coaches and teammates with his work ethic. Against Tennessee, he impressed everyone else, too. Mundt subbed for absent tight end Colt Lyerla against the Volunteers on Saturday and had five catches for 121 yards and two touchdowns. The Ducks defeated Tennessee 59-14 to remain No. 2 in the Associated Press poll.
ST. LOUIS (AP) – Yadier Molina broke out of a slump with a home run and three singles as Shelby Miller and the St. Louis Cardinals remained tied for first place in the NL Central with a 12-2 win yesterday over the Seattle Mariners. Matt Adams also homered as St. Louis won for the seventh time in nine games and kept pace with Pittsburgh. Both teams are 87-62 with 13 games left.
