EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Police say a man’s body has been pulled from the Willamette River near Skinner Butte Park in Eugene. The Eugene Register-Guard reported Wednesday it was possible the body was snagged in a shallow part of the river. Police say the man’s identity would be made public pending notification of relatives and foul play is not suspected.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon’s health insurance exchange portal is giving up on its feel-good advertising campaign. A Cover Oregon spokesman said yesterday said billboard ads will come down as payment expires and ads for radio and television have been pulled. The exchange has yet to launch three months after it was supposed to go live.

GEARHART, Ore. (AP) – Authorities are investigating a crash that critically injured a pedestrian near Gearhart. The Oregon State Police say the crash occurred yesterday afternoon on Highway 101 and there is no evidence the 72-year-old woman driving was at fault. Authorities say the 20-year-old pedestrian tried to cross the highway to a coffee stand when he was struck.

SCIO, Ore. (AP) – Authorities in Linn County say they arrested the son of a Scio woman after a standoff of nearly three hours at her mobile home. The sheriff’s office says a SWAT team pulled 54-year-old Raymon Eugene Beasley out of the home Wednesday and he is now facing menacing, burglary and other charges. Authorities say 74-year-old Carole Knox was able to get out through another door after Beasley forced his way inside.
