PORTAND, Ore. (AP) – The leader of the Bonneville Power Administration, who was suspended last year amid an investigation into agency hiring practices, has resigned. BPA spokesman Doug Johnson said Bill Drummond resigned last Friday as administrator. Drummond had been administrator for only half a year.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – One skier is suing another in Oregon, contending that he suffered a broken leg and other injuries when the second skier slammed into him on the slopes of the Timberline ski area at Mount Hood. The Oregonian reports that Ward Smith is seeking $1.4 million in the lawsuit filed Tuesday in Multnomah County Circuit Court in Portland. The lawsuit says his medical bills have reached $150,000.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police in Portland say an 89-year-old woman was injured and had her glasses broken when her purse was snatched by a younger woman who drove off in an orange station wagon. Sgt. Pete Simpson says the victim had just pulled into her driveway Tuesday when the 1970s station wagon parked in front of her mailbox. A woman in her 30s got out of the vehicle’s back seat and grabbed the elderly woman’s purse.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A fugitive from Montana injured during a confrontation with police on the Oregon coast has been released from a Portland hospital and taken to jail. Oregon State Police say a trooper struck 30-year-old Dale Wallace with a patrol car Friday when Wallace pointed a gun at officers in Lincoln City.
