EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Freshman guard Jordan Matthews scored a season-high 32 points and California beat No. 17 Oregon 96-83 last night, defeating the Ducks for the 12th straight time. Justin Cobbs had 20 points and 11 assists for the Golden Bears (11-4, 2-0 Pac-12), who shot 52.5 percent and had five players in double figures.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Bryce Pressley had 16 points and nine assists and scrappy Portland upset No. 22 Gonzaga 82-73 last night, snapping a 20-game losing streak in the series between the two teams. The loss also snapped the Bulldogs’ 22-game winning streak in West Coast Conference games.
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – CORVALLIS – Eric Moreland had 17 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks as Oregon State beat Stanford 81-72 last night. Roberto Nelson added 21 points for the Beavers (9-6, 1-2 Pac-12), and freshman Hallice Cooke, making his first career start, had 16 points. Chasson Randle scored 30 points and Dwight Powell added 13 points and 10 rebounds for Stanford (9-5, 0-2).
LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) – DK Eldridge scored 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds as New Mexico State beat Seattle 96-87 last night. Kevin Aronis hit back-to-back 3-pointers to score the final six points in a 21-6 run by New Mexico State (13-5, 2-0 Western Athletic Conference), opening up a 42-21 lead with 4:14 left in the first half. The Aggies took a 48-28 advantage into the break and held a 20-point lead with 6:41 to play.
