Joseph Young’s reverse layup attempt at the buzzer was blocked and the hard-charging Oregon Ducks were stopped Saturday afternoon 74-72 by Arizona State.  The Sun Devils built a 20-point lead in the second half, but Oregon put together a furious rally behind Young, using a 34-11 run to briefly take the lead with five minutes remaining.

In Tucson yesterday, the Beavers sustained their worst loss of the season, 76-54, to the Arizona Wildcats.  Oregon State has now lost 30 of the last 31 games they’ve played at the McKale Center.

It’s Civil War basketball week… Oregon and Oregon State will meet Sunday afternoon at Matthew Knight Arena.

Prep Basketball

On the prep court… Siuslaw and Marshfield’s Far West matchup postponed Friday night will be made up this evening at Siuslaw High School.  The pregame show on KCST is at 5:45… the girls tip off at six… the boys immediately following.

Mapleton and Crow had been slated to meet Friday night… those games will be made up Wednesday evening.

Reedsport and Gold Beach were able to get their games in… the Lady Panthers downed the Lady Braves 48-27.  Reedsport came out on top in the boys’ game, 42 – 38.
