Halee Richards led the Lady Vikings with 12 points, but the number three ranked Brookings-Harbor Bruins ran away in the second quarter to eventually win 71-38 in Brookings. In other Far West matchups, North Bend picked up their first win of the year, 40-36 over Douglas; Marshfield demolished South Umpqua 62 – 16. In nonleague action, Glide downed Reedsport 50 -36.
For the boys, Preston Mitchell led scoring with 16 points, but Brookings Harbor methodically hit shots from outside the arc and downed the Siuslaw Vikings 60-46. Elsewhere in the Far West it was North Bend over Douglas 45-23; Marshfield over South Umpqua 56-31. In nonleague basketball, Glide edged Reedsport 44-42.
Civil War Basketball
Joseph Young scored 25 points as Oregon took a commanding lead early and held off Oregon State for a 93-83 Civil War Basketball win in Eugene yesterday. Oregon opened the game with 12-of-16 shooting from the floor and led 31-12 midway through the first half. Oregon State twice trimmed the lead to two points in the second half, but could never complete the comeback.
