Beavers Bounced from CBI
Ya Ya Anderson scored 23 points, including seven 3-pointers, to lead Radford past Oregon State 96-92 in the opening round of the College Basketball Invitational last night. It was the Highlanders’ first NCAA Division I postseason win. Radford built a large early lead thanks to red-hot shooting and held off Oregon State rallies in the second half. The Beavers ended the season 18 and 18 overall.
Ducks Debut in NCAA
Oregon opens post season play midday today in Wisconsin against Brigham Young in the second round of the NCAA Men’s Tournament. Airtime is at 11:30 with tipoff between the Ducks and the Cougars at 12:10.
On the prep schedule…
Viking Track and Field will host four other schools this afternoon for the Siuslaw Ice Breaker at Hans Peterson Field… field events begin at four… running at 4:30.
Siuslaw Softball is on the home diamond against Cottage Grove this afternoon.
Viking Baseball today has been cancelled. Coach Jim Dietz says injuries and illness have left the squad depleted and they don’t have enough to take the field. No word on whether or not it will be rescheduled.
