Taking a look at Coast Radio Sports…
Siuslaw baseball standout Sam Johnson is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. As the leadoff hitter in the lineup he had eight “quality” at-bats in a double header sweep of Sutherlin last week. Johnson was one-for-three with a walk and one RBI in game one. Then, in the nightcap he was three-for-four with two singles, a double, one RBI and two stolen bases.
Honorable Mention is given to pitcher John Dodson who claimed both wins against Sutherlin from the mound. Throwing five innings in game win and striking out four. Then, in game two going the distance… seven innings… allowing six hits, but striking out five.
Prep Baseball and Softball Today
On the diamond today… Siuslaw will host Marshfield for Far West baseball at five this afternoon… that game will air on Coast Radio Sports beginning at 4:45. The Lady Vikings are in Coos Bay where they’ll face the Pirates, also at five.
Diamond Ducks
Oregon will host the Portland Pilots at PK Park for non-league baseball this evening. Tomorrow they’ll be on the Bluff in Portland for the second game of the two-game series.
