Athlete of the Week
Mapleton Track and Field standout Madison Frelich is Coast Radio Sports Athlete of the Week. The Sailor Junior was a triple winner in Waldport last week and recorded three personal records in the process. She won the 200 meters with a time of 29.87; the 100 meter hurdles in 19.43 and the javelin with a toss of 96-feet, five-inches.
Honorable mention is given to Siuslaw middle distance runner Katelyn Wells who finished fourth in the 800 meters at the Jim Robinson Twilight in Roseburg with her fastest time so far this season; 2:31.40.
College Baseball
Brando Tessar made a case for a return to a weekend starting spot for the Oregon Ducks yesterday, throwing seven scoreless innings in a 4-3 non-conference win over San Diego yesterday at PK Park. Oregon has won six games in the last seven days… the Ducks will return to the diamond Thursday at home against Washington State.
Prep Schedule
On the schedule today… Viking Baseball is at home against the Brookings-Harbor Bruins at four o’clock this afternoon… the pregame show on KCST is set for 3:45. The Lady Vikings will be in Brookings against the Bruins… that game also starts at four.
Siuslaw Viking Track and Field will be at Frank Shriver Track in North Bend for a Far West Varsity meet beginning at four this afternoon.
