Athlete of the Week
Siuslaw Track and Field standout Ashlee Cole is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The senior thrower placed in two events at the Oregon Relays over the weekend, capturing third in the javelin; fifth in the discus; and setting personal records in both events.
Honorable mention… Freshman distance runner Celie Mans who entered the Siuslaw High School top ten in the 15-hundred with a personal best time of 4:59.
On the baseball diamond…
Oregon State jumped to an early 6-1 lead last night, but couldn’t sustain it as Sacramento State consistently chipped at the lead. The Hornets took the lead in the bottom of the eighth and held on for a 7-6 non-league decision. Yesterday’s game was at Raley Field, a minor league ballpark in Sacramento… the two teams meet this afternoon at John Smith Field on campus.

The Siuslaw Vikings will host the North Bend Bulldogs for Far West Baseball this afternoon… weather permitting. First pitch is at five; airtime on Coast Radio Sports is at 4:45. Viking Softball will be in North Bend, also at five.
