OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – Rejecting an insanity defense, jurors took just 15 minutes to convict a suburban Portland man of two counts of aggravated murder in the shooting deaths of his mother and his 16-year-old nephew. The Oregonian reports that Adrien Wallace admitted killing Saundra Sue Wallace of Lake Oswego and Nicholas Juarez in 2012. Wallace could face the death penalty.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – A judge has ordered a Ukrainian truck driver to serve two years’ probation for screaming aboard a flight from Boston to Salt Lake City that a wing had caught fire. Anatoliy Baranovich of Portland was also ordered to $57,000 to Delta Air Lines for damaging a plane door when he tried to yank it open. Baranovich told authorities he had been drinking heavily for 50 days before causing the melee.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Cover Oregon has offered retention bonuses to employees who stick around through a tumultuous time for the struggling health insurance exchange. Cover Oregon officials say the bonuses are necessary to avoid losing needed staff members. The organization has been struggling with the loss staff in recent months, some to layoffs and others who left voluntarily.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A 20-year-old man who told investigators he fainted while holding his breath as he drove through an Oregon tunnel, resulting in a three-vehicle crash, has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges. The Oregonian reports that Daniel Calhoon of Snohomish, Washington, was arraigned yesterday on five counts. Police say Calhoon, his passenger and two people in an SUV were injured in the May 25 crash at a tunnel on U.S. Highway 26 northwest of Portland.
