Sandblasters give up late lead, recover in the tenth.
Pete Lahti drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the tenth inning last night with a sacrifice fly and the Three Rivers Sandblasters held on in the bottom of the frame for a 4-3 win over the Mid Valley Rockets.
It was the sixth extra-inning game for the ‘Blasters so far this season. Taylor Travess went the complete ten innings, striking out 11. He had two hits, as did Sam Johnson. Zach Inskeep added a two-RBI single. Next up for Three Rivers: the Gerding Builders out of Corvallis at Jiggs Dodson Field in Florence Friday afternoon.
Emeralds Fall in Volcano Stadium
Salem-Keizer’s Eury Sanchez gave up a solo home run to Yale Rosen in the top of the ninth, but struck out the three other batters he faced and the Volcanoes held on for a 4-3 Northwest League win over the Eugene Emeralds last night in Keizer. Game two of the three game series is tonight.
