EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A small wildfire burned more than 7 acres of farmland last evening near the Eugene Airport. KVAL reports firefighters from agencies across the county rushed to control the fire as it spread rapidly due to hot, dry weather.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The state of Oregon admits that negligence played a substantial role in the death of an inmate who was killed after he asked to be protected from the Aryan Brotherhood and was instead moved to a cell with a member. Prison officials made the statement in court documents filed in response to a lawsuit by the widow of 28-year-old Michael Hagen.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a woman waiting for a bus was killed when a vehicle crashed through a Portland bus shelter. The Oregonian reports the driver of a station wagon apparently lost control of her vehicle yesterday afternoon. Police say the found the victim on the ground and the woman driving of the crashed car apparently having medical problems.
