Prep Volleyball:
It came down to the wire last night in Mapleton, but the Siletz ValleyWarriors came from behind to claim a Mountain West League volleyball match. The Sailors led in game five, but the Warriors battled back to take the set 15-11.
Defending Champion Siuslaw returns to the court tomorrow morning to compete in the annual Reedsport Invitational. The 25 year old volleyball tournament will begin with eight team pool play at Reedsport Charter school at 10am, teams competing include riddle, Glide, Yoncalla, North Douglas, Oakland, Coquille and the hosting Lady Braves.

The Viking boys are on the grid iron tonight to open the 2014 football season with a non-league game against the Cubs. Kick off between Newport and Siuslaw at Hans Peterson Memorial Field is set for 7 o’clock, airtime on KCST is 6:45….
Non conference college football pits hosting Oregon against the visiting Spartans of Michigan State. Airtime on KCST is 2 o’clock, kick off is set for 3:30 at Autzen Stadium Saturday… While Oregon State is on the road for non conference play tomorrow against the Rainbow Warriors of Hawai’i.
