Prep Volleyball
The Mapleton Sailors moved closer to their goal of securing a playoff spot with a three game Mountain West victory over Eddyville last night. Katie Dearman had eight aces, four kills and five assists for the Sailors who took sole possession of fourth place with the win. Mapleton will be at Mohawk tomorrow.

In the Far West League, the Siuslaw Vikings came out on top in three games over South Umpqua. Coach Angie Herring called the outing their “best yet” this year. Elyssa Rose had nine kills and six stuff blocks; Brittany Long had six kills and four perfect serve-receive passes; Trista Lane had seven kills and one stuff block. The Vikings are four-and-one in second place in the league; they’ll host undefeated Marshfield tomorrow night. The Pirates beat Brookings-Harbor in three games last night; Douglas edged North Bend in five.
