Athlete of the Week
Siuslaw football standout Preston Mitchell is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the week. The junior utility player returned three punts for 49 yards; completed four-of-seven passes for 38 yards; caught two passes and made numerous key defensive plays in the Vikings’ post-season victory over the Marshfield Pirates.
Honorable mention is given to cross country runner Elizabeth Wartnik who bettered her previous best time on the State Meet course by 1:14, finishing 33rd overall in 21:15, enabling her team to capture the third place trophy.
Vikings on Vikings Saturday
On the gridiron this weekend… game time is now set for the Siuslaw Vikings versus the Mazama Vikings in the next round of the OSAA 4A playoffs… kickoff is set for one pm Saturday in Klamath Falls. Mazama is the Skyline League champion with an 8-and-oh record. The six-and-three Siuslaw Vikings finished fourth in the Far West.
