PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police investigating the death of a 24-year-old woman at a Portland hotel say she was a victim of sex trafficking. The Oregonian reports that police are not clear if trafficking was directly related to the death of Ashley Benson of Vancouver. She was found dead Friday in a stairwell at the DoubleTree hotel near the Lloyd Center shopping mall. No arrests have been made.
CORNELIUS, Ore. (AP) – The Washington County sheriff’s office says a fire that destroyed a duplex at Cornelius was deliberately set. KOIN reports five people were displace by the Saturday night fire. Investigators tracked down a 20-year-old woman who had walked away from the fire and arrested her on an arson charge.
BEND, Ore. (AP) – A 10-year-old Hillsboro boy is recovering from injuries from falling from a chairlift at Mount Bachelor. Tyler Russell told KTVZ (he was trying to adjust his snowboard Saturday when he slipped. He dangled by one hand and called for help before he fell about 20 feet, landing on his back on the snowboard.
ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) – Police say a shoplifting suspect who pulled a gun to escape from a Lacey, Washington, Wal-Mart was arrested at an Astoria hotel. Officers arrested the 25-year-old Puyallup man Saturday evening after a foot chase. The Daily Astorian reports two women who were with him were arrested on drug charges.
