Decathlete of the Week
Siuslaw track and field stand out Joseph Dotson is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The senior decathlete finished fourth at last week’s Summit Decathlon in Bend, scoring 6,034 points and qualifying for the New Balance Nationals coming up in June in North Carolina. Dotson set personal records in nine out of the ten events and his total score was 1,107 points better than his previous best.
Honorable mention is given to Viking junior Mikaela Siegel. She competed in the Summit Heptathlon, taking fifth place overall and scoring 3,384 points.
Field conditions prompt cancellation of Viking Baseball
Prep baseball today has been rained out… field conditions at Jiggs Dodson Field are unplayable. Viking softball is still a “go” in Junction City.
College baseball… Oregon is set for a non-conference game at PK Park against the Portland Pilots at three.
