HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A former Washington County jail worker has been sentenced to three years in prison for repeatedly having sex with an inmate. The Oregonian reports that Brett Robinson was sentenced yesterday after she pleaded guilty to custodial sexual misconduct and official misconduct in April. Robinson’s former co-worker Jill Curry pleaded guilty to having sex with the same inmate earlier this year. She was sentenced to four years in prison.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Responding to increasing gun violence, the Portland police chief is beefing up the department’s gang enforcement team. Chief Larry O’Dea says he’s adding six officers to the unit, boosting it from 18 to 24 officers. The Oregonian reports that last weekend’s shootings pushed the number of Portland gang violence calls to 67, up from 51 at this time a year ago.
MILWAUKIE, Ore. (AP) – Clackamas County sheriff’s deputies say they’ve detained a man accused of making a bomb threat while trying to rob a restaurant in the Portland suburb of Milwaukie. KGW-TV reports that Chang’s Mongolian Grill was evacuated last night so a bomb team could check the device, which deputies believe was a fake.
BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) – Baker County officials don’t know when a pickup truck will be removed from a remote creek, but they do know who put it there. The Baker City Herald reports that the 1997 Dodge truck has been sitting in Alder Creek since it plunged 800 feet and landed there after a 28-mile chase in the Elkhorn Mountains May 12. The owner, who lives in Idaho, is responsible for removal.
