EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – University of Oregon’s new president is going to be paid ninth-most out of 220 to public university leaders. The Register-Guard reports the Chronicle of Higher Education’s salary rankings put incoming University of Oregon President Michael Schill’s $798,400 yearly contract among the highest in the country. He’ll be making about 50 percent more than outgoing president Michael Gottfredson.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – A robber who stabbed the manager of a Grants Pass pizzeria in the chest has been sentenced to eight years in prison. The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports 31-year-old Kye Fisher told the court he regrets the attack. He also apologized to the victim, Skeeter Brown.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – The Grants Pass City Council has approved $130,000 for a sobering center. The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports the proposed center would be a place where intoxicated people can be lodged until they are sober. It is not a comprehensive detox center, although guests will be advised on treatment options.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) – The city of Klamath Falls has selected John Barsalou to be director of the airport. The Herald and News reports that Barsalou was one of 50 applicants for the position at Crater Lake-Klamath Regional Airport. Barsalou has previous worked as deputy director at the airport in Flint, Michigan. He also had a variety of positions with the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport in Alaska.
