Emeralds hold off the Hops
The Eugene Emeralds took sole possession of the lead in the Northwest League’s southern division last night with a 6 -2 victory over the Hops in Hillsboro. Eugene took the lead for good with a three-run fourth inning, including a solo homerun from the bat of Eloy Jimenez.
The Ems, at 8-and-6, are one game ahead of the Hops. They’ll meet again for game two of the three game series tonight in Hillsboro.
Three Rivers in Washington Tourney
The Three Rivers Sandblasters open the four-day Mickey Merriam Tournament today at Woodland Park north of Seattle, Washington. First up: the EnFuego Elite; tomorrow it’ll be the Seattle Braves. Two more games are scheduled for the Fourth, then they’ll wrap up Sunday afternoon.
The Sandblasters return to league play Tuesday in Monmouth against the Post 20 Dirtbags.
