Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – The Klamath County sheriff says he has not been interviewed by investigators from the Oregon Department of Justice who are investigating him. Sheriff Frank Skrah said in a statement he learned of the investigation from the department last July, but still has not been interviewed or told what it is about. The department has not said what it is about, either.
FRESNO, Calif. (AP) – A federal judge in California has denied a request by Central Valley agricultural water providers to block emergency water releases to protect Klamath River salmon from the drought. The judge found the providers were unlikely to win their lawsuit. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation started releasing water last Friday.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A Eugene developer has purchased a parcel of vacant land near the University of Oregon and might use it to build a six-story, 251-unit student housing complex. The Register-Guard reports that Orchard Crossing LLC, headed by Roy Carver III, bought the 1-acre plot for $1.85 million. Carver’s proposal says every unit would be a studio apartment with a Murphy-style wall bed.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – An American student who helped stop a terror attack on a Paris-bound high-speed train says it’s been a “crazy last few days,” and he’s happy to be home. Anthony Sadler spoke briefly during a news conference with the mayor of Sacramento, California. He and two Sacramento-area friends – U.S. Air Force Airman Spencer Stone and Oregon National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos – helped subdue a man with ties to radical Islam who was carrying weapons on the train Friday.
