PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A federal judge is considering whether Oracle can sue the state of Oregon over the failure of the Cover Oregon health insurance exchange. Oracle alleges that the state never fully paid for the work it did and now is trying to hide behind a claim of immunity. The judge said she will issue a ruling “reasonably soon.”
BEND, Ore. (AP) – The driver of a passenger vehicle was killed in a collision with a school bus on Santiam Pass between the Willamette Valley and Bend yesterday. The Bend Bulletin reports that more than three-dozen high school soccer players from Eugene were on the bus, but no one was hurt. The game they were headed to was cancelled.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Health officials say a bat that bit a man this week in Creswell has tested positive for rabies. Lane County Public Health officials tell the Register-Guard that the man has begun treatment as is expected to be fine. At least 10 rabid bats have been identified in Oregon this year.
ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) – The Northwest Civil War Council will go ahead with a weekend battle re-enactment, now that Clatsop County has lifted a burn ban. The Daily Astorian reports that home campfires and burn barrels still require a burn permit, and campfires are only allowed in designated campgrounds.
