PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A judge has ruled that the City of Troutdale has 45 days to prove the gun used in a fatal high school shooting is needed as evidence, otherwise the shooter’s brother can have it back. KOIN-TV reports that in a hearing yesterday, a judge ruled that the rifle, ammunition, a bulletproof vest and other items be returned to Lucas Padgett by Troutdale and the state of Oregon.

TILLAMOOK, Ore. (AP) – A 22-year-old sex offender who escaped from the Tillamook Youth Facility has been arrested in Utah. KOIN-TV reports that Joshua Garvin escaped the facility Saturday and was arrested in Provo Wednesday. The Oregon Youth Authority says Garvin had been in the facility since before he was 18. A youthful offender can remain in the Oregon Youth Authority system until their 25th birthday.

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) – A man accused of stabbing a Vancouver police dog to death is facing added criminal charges that prosecutors say are warranted given the severity of the case. The Columbian reports that Jacky Chan Karuo appeared in court yesterday on charges of malicious mischief and resisting arrest. Police say Karuo stabbed Ike, a Belgian Malinois, after the dog and his handler answered a suspicious person call.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police are seeking the public’s help regarding the deaths of a wolf pair in Wallowa County. Authorities declined to comment on how the wolves died. Authorities say the bodies were found three weeks ago, 50 yards of each other, in the Sled Springs area. One of the wolves was collared and its collar emitted a mortality signal, leading to the discovery.
