Siuslaw and Marshfield face off at six
An effort is underway to “Pack the Gym” tonight at Siuslaw High School as the Vikings host Marshfield in a Far West Volleyball matchup. The Pirates are ten-and-one on the season and ranked number seven in the 4A. Siuslaw is four-and-one; rated 11th. The J-V match starts at five, varsity at six. The first 100 fans through the door will get a “Go-Viks” rally towel.
Sailors face Irish
The Mapleton Sailors are at home for non-league volleyball this evening against Waldport.
Vikings lead 4A Cross Country poll
The Siuslaw Girls are running at the top of the 4A Cross Country Coaches’ poll this week. They picked up six of eight first-place votes after defeating former number one North Bend last week in the Far West Preview. North Bend is number two, followed by Phoenix, then Scappoose and Molalla are tied at fourth. South Umpqua and Marshfield are also in the top ten… the Lancers at 6, the Pirates along with seven other teams at 10th.
