Key Far West Volleyball contest goes to Marshfield
The Pirates and the Vikings traded wins in the first two games of Far West League rivalry volleyball match last night in Florence. Marshfield won the next two to remain undefeated on the season. It was the first league loss of the year for Siuslaw.
In other Far West action, Douglas defeated Brookings-Harbor; South Umpqua downed North Bend.

Prep football tonight: the Siuslaw Vikings are in Murphy, that’s just south of Grants Pass, where they’ll face the fourth ranked Hidden Valley Mustangs. Airtime on KCST is at 6:45.
Mapleton will take on the Lakers in Triangle Lake.
12th ranked Oregon will host Georgia State tomorrow at 11 AM at Autzen Stadium in Eugene. The pregame show on KCST is set for 9:30. In Corvallis, Oregon State will host San Jose State at five. The pregame in KCFM is set for four.
On the cross country course… the Siuslaw Vikings will be running in the Prefontaine Memorial 5-K tomorrow morning in Coos Bay. It’s part of the Bay Area Fun Festival.
