ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) – Jim Caldwell doesn’t want to talk any more about the controversial way his Detroit Lions lost Monday night – and he doesn’t want his players talking about it either. Caldwell says he doesn’t want the Lions to be distracted by more discussion of Calvin Johnson’s fumble on Detroit’s final possession in a loss to Seattle.
NEW YORK (AP) — The 2-2 Seattle Seahawks remain at No. 8 in the AP Pro32 power rankings this week. The Seahawks defeated the 0-4 Detroit Lions 13-10 Monday night. The St. Louis Rams made the biggest jump in the latest power rankings, improving nine spots to No. 10 in voting by the 12 media members who regularly cover the NFL. They defeated the Seahawks 34-31 in the season opener.
VANCOUVER (AP) — Entering their second year under general manager Jim Benning, the Vancouver Canucks are emphasizing hard work and a pack mentality as they try to return to the playoffs. Vancouver piled up 101 points last season, but lost to Calgary in the Western Conference quarterfinals. They finished 48-29-5 in Willie Desjardins’ first season, and in the offseason added forwards Brandon Sutter and Brandon Prust, among others.
PHOENIX (AP) – This is a new version of the Pac-12, where new teams are on the rise and the unexpected has become the norm. The Pac-12 hierarchy in recent years started with Oregon. But Oregon already has two losses this season, the latest one of the biggest surprises of the college football season: Utah 62, Oregon 20, in Eugene.
