BEND, Ore. (AP) – A former governor is under investigation, but not for a trip he made to the dump in February. The Bend Bulletin reports the county recently released video showing people who appear to be former Gov. John Kitzhaber and his fiancee, Cylvia Hayes, dumping various large items at Bend’s Knott Landfill. The FBI is investigating an influence-peddling controversy related to the couple. Deschutes County had declined to release the landfill video at the request of the FBI, citing the ongoing investigation. The FBI recently told their legal counsel he could release the video.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – A Northern California prosecutor said he has filed murder charges that could lead to the death penalty for three young transients accused of fatally shooting a Canadian backpacker and a yoga instructor. The three were arrested outside a Portland, Oregon soup kitchen Wednesday. It’s unclear if they have retained lawyers.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A youth wrestling coach who has worked with hundreds of children has pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of sexually abusing boys ages 10 to 13. The Oregonian reports 25-year-old Wyatt DeRemer pleaded not guilty to a 10-count indictment related to abusing four boys between 2007 and 2012. DeRemer is being held in Portland jail on $2.5 million bail.
