SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A Salem man has been sentenced to 18 days in jail after being convicted of poisoning nine cats with antifreeze. The Statesman Journal reports a judge also sentenced Antonio Ramos-Perez to 18 months of probation for misdemeanor animal abuse charges. Ramos-Perez was accused of putting antifreeze on a piece of meat in a container and placing it outside his home in an uncovered garbage can.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Authorities have identified the woman found dead along a rural gravel road in Marion County. Sheriff’s detectives say 36-year-old Brenda Bautista of Woodburn was found dead yesterday near Donald, a community about 30 miles south of Portland. Investigators are calling the death suspicious.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a Portland man has died after his SUV crashed in a high-speed wreck near Willamina. The Oregonian reports state police say Bradley Gene Jones’s SUV veered off the road at the Oregon 18B off-ramp and ended up down a steep embankment near the Yamhill River.
