PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police say they’re investigating a shooting in the Northeast part of the city that has left a man critically wounded. Officers said they responded to a report of gunfire in the area last night and found a man with life-threatening injuries after another caller reported seeing someone down at the Parkway Gardens Apartments.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) – State officials deny allegations in a petition filed by Klamath County Commissioner Tom Mallams contesting an irrigation shut-off notice. The Herald and News reports the notices issued by the Oregon Water Resources Department in the summer ordered Mallams to stop pumping groundwater to irrigate his farm.

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon City Commission has voted to fire City Manager David Frasher, who had been on leave since August pending an investigation into a non-criminal complaint. Mayor Dan Holladay says the commission decided yesterday to release Frasher because it had lost confidence in him. Holladay says the complaint filed against Frasher did not factor into the commission’s decision.

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) – Lawmakers from three states plan to tour a proposed coal export terminal along the Columbia River, as supporters tout its economic benefits in the face of resistance from environmentalists and some officials. The pro-business group Keep Washington Competitive is sponsoring the Monday trip for legislators from Washington state, Wyoming and Montana.
