VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) – An Oregon man has been sentenced to prison for his role in a fatal robbery last year in Clark County, Wash. The Columbian reports that Shawn Fortner of Bend was sentenced to 11 years in prison under a plea deal. He and another man first faced murder charges in the 2014 death of Craig Moritz during a drug deal. Moritz was shot by a third co-defendant, Zacheriah Douglas, of Vancouver. Douglas is serving a 38-year prison sentence.
HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – Washington County authorities say a man has died after crashing his motorcycle in Hillsboro. KGW-TV reports that deputies arrived at the scene Tuesday night to find 42-year-old Kevin Prince, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff’s Sgt. Bob Ray says Prince had been coming around a curve when he veered off the road and crashed into a power pole.
ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) – A man has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for a rock toss that injured University of Oregon distance runner Molly Grabill. The Register-Guard reports Matthew McKinney of Sutherlin pleaded guilty to tossing a large rock from a freeway overpass in 2012, shattering the windshield of a car and causing it to crash. A second man, Hayden Tabor, is scheduled to be sentenced today.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A federal agency has released a roadmap for the recovery of threatened Oregon Coast coho salmon. The plan from the National Marine Fisheries Service focuses on improving degraded stream habitat. The coho was listed under the Endangered Species Act in 1998. It was later taken off that list, but was granted federal protection again in 2008.
