SEATTLE (AP) – Cam Newton threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Greg Olsen with 32 seconds left and the Carolina Panthers remained unbeaten, rallying for a stunning 27-23 win over the Seattle Seahawks yesterday. Newton led the Panthers (5-0) to touchdowns on their final two possessions after trailing 23-14.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Damian Lillard scored 32 points, C.J. McCollum had 26 and the Portland Trail Blazers rallied from a 21-point, second-half deficit to beat the Utah Jazz 116-111 in overtime last night in a preseason game. Lillard, who hit two free throws with 2.8 seconds left to tie the game at 101 and force overtime, made six 3-pointers.

BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) – A Washington coach who was told by district officials to stop leading prayers after games went ahead with a prayer after a weekend game. The Kitsap Sun reports Bremerton High assistant coach Joe Kennedy knelt as his players left the field and prayed on Friday. It’s unclear what the district will do.

HOUSTON (AP) – Obafemi Martins scored in the 82nd minute and the Seattle Sounders eliminated the Houston Dynamo from playoff contention with a 1-1 draw yesterday. The Sounders (14-13-6) extended their undefeated streak to seven games, but missed a chance to clinch off a playoff spot.
