PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A man accused of killing four Portland women in the 1980s entered a not guilty plea on 12 counts of aggravated murder. Portland police arrested 55-year-old Homer Jackson on Thursday after connecting him to the murders through forensic evidence and other information. Cold-case detectives said the women were sex trafficking victims, working as prostitutes.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police arrested a 70-year-old woman accused of fatally stabbing her husband at a veterans’ home in The Dalles, Oregon. Court records show Esther Wilkerson of Happy Valley is charged with murder and unlawful use of a weapon in Sunday’s killing of 67-year-old James Wilkerson. The 4-foot-9, 80-pound Wilkerson did not have a lawyer as of Monday morning.

CANYON CITY, Ore. (AP) – A Grant County man fatally shot a wolf while hunting coyotes south of Prairie City. Oregon State Police say the man reported the killing to the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife on Oct. 6. Wolves are protected by the state Endangered Species Act, and the Grant County district attorney will decide whether to file any charges.

GEARHART, Ore. (AP) – A coastal city in Oregon will be using a survey to determine if short-term vacation rentals should be regulated by the city. The Daily Astorian reports that Gearhart City Manager Chad Sweet says the city has received more than 30 letters from each side in the rental debate. Sweet says options range from doing nothing to full restrictions. He will present a draft of the survey at the council’s November meeting.
