Cottage Grove and the Vikings meet next week
The Siuslaw Vikings will host the Cottage Grove Lions in the Play-In round of the OSAA volleyball playoffs next Tuesday evening in Florence. The Lions are 8-12 overall, 4-6 in the Sky Em where they finished in third place. The Vikings finished 2nd in the Far West. They are 11-8 overall with a 6-4 league record.
XC Rankings: Siuslaw girls still on top
The Siuslaw Viking girls Cross Country team lead the 4A coaches’ poll for the sixth straight week. For the fifth time they are the unanimous pick at the top followed by Molalla, Sisters, North Bend and South Umpqua. That means at least one top five team will not make it to the state meet in Eugene. The Vikings, Bulldogs and Lancers, along with Douglas, Marshfield and Brookings will run tomorrow afternoon at Tugman State Park in Lakeside in the Far West District Meet… only the top two teams advance.
The Viking boys picked up a couple votes, but were not ranked this week. Seaside took over a share of the top spot with Valley Catholic this week. Followed by Tillamook, Phoenix and Newport. North Bend is ranked eighth. Marshfield and Brookings-Harbor also picked up votes. The boys also run tomorrow in Lakeside.
