Girls claim Far West XC Title; Viking boys second
The Siuslaw Girls captured their 13th straight district title yesterday, finishing for runners in the top ten, including Celie Mans who claimed the individual championship in 18:36. Morgan Bingham was third, Sierra Potter fifth, followed by Kaeli Ramos in tenth. Destinie Tatum was the final scoring runner for the Viks. She was 14th. Siuslaw had 33 points, followed by South Umpqua in second with 50. Both teams will participate in next week’s OSAA State meet in Eugene.
The Viking boys will be making their 15th straight appearance at the state meet. They finished in second place yesterday, just two points behind league champion Brookings-Harbor. Murray Bingham was the top finisher for Siuslaw in fourth. Isaac Griffes was seventh; and Jack Pickell finished tenth. Kyle King was 15th and Tyler Williams was 23rd.
Mapleton Volleyball advances
The Alsea Wolverines won the first two sets, 26-24 in a Mountain West League playoff match in Mapleton last night, but the Sailors fought back and swept the next three for a 3-2 win to advance to the league tournament tomorrow at Mohawk High School. Alyssa Richards had 28 attacks for 16 kills, she added 17 digs. Destiny Weber had 26 digs. The Sailors will face McKenzie.
Football: prep and college
Siuslaw football closes out the regular season on the road tonight at Brookings-Harbor High School. Airtime on KCST is at 6:45… kickoff at seven.
Mapleton is at home this evening for the final regular season game of the year against North Douglas.
The Oregon Ducks have tomorrow off… they’ll be at Arizona State next Thursday night. Oregon State and Colorado kick off at 7:30 tomorrow night at Reser Stadium in Corvallis. Both teams seeking their first Pac-12 win of the season. The pregame show on KCFM gets underway at 6:30.
