Cross Country runner achieves personal best
Siuslaw cross country standout Morgan Bingham is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The junior beat her previous fastest time on the five-K course by 15 seconds to finish third at the Far West District Cross County Championships last week; helping pace the Viking girls to their 13th straight district title and a return trip to the state meet.
Honorable mention goes to Marcos Reyna. He blocked a field goal attempt and a point-after try in the Vikings’ 21-20 Far West Football win over the Brookings-Harbor Bruins.
Playoff volleyball tonight
Siuslaw Viking Volleyball is on the court at home this evening against the Cottage Grove Lions in the “Play-in” round of the OSAA playoffs. The Lions are the third place team from the Sky Em; they’re in town to face the Far West number two. First serve is at six o’clock.
