SEATTLE (AP) – A spokesman for Chipotle says the company plans to keep all 43 of its Mexican restaurants closed in Oregon and Washington state until health officials investigating an E. coli outbreak say it’s safe to reopen. Twenty-two people in the two states have been sickened by an E. coli outbreak and most of those people have eaten at a Chipotle restaurant during the past few weeks. A company spokesman says the investigation is the priority right now.

  1. VERNON, Ore. (AP) – Two large female guard dogs living with a family in Mt. Vernon have “adopted” an orphaned kitten. Dog owner Tiffany Hull said about six weeks ago one of the dogs brought a kitten in her mouth from the family’s backyard. Since then, both dogs have mothered the kitten. They lick him, let him play on top of them, and snuggle with him.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police have arrested a 21-year-old man after a vehicle crashed into a Portland power pole and left a pedestrian dead in the intersection early yesterday morning. Mathew Freeman of north Portland has been arrested for investigation of manslaughter, reckless driving and other charges. The victim’s name has not been released.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Kids who got soaked with rain instead of filled with candy on Halloween are complaining about Portland’s wet Halloween. According to the National Weather Service, about 3.69 inches of rain fell in October in Portland. Of that, 1.97 inches fell on Saturday. The Oregonian reports the weather service predicts more rain will fall through tomorrow.
