MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Damian Lillard had 34 points and seven assists, and the Portland Trail Blazers beat Minnesota 106-101 last night after the Timberwolves honored fallen coach Flip Saunders with an emotional pregame tribute. Lillard made 14 of 25 shots, C.J. McCollum scored 18 points and Al-Farouq Aminu had 17 points and nine rebounds for Portland.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) – Jake Virtanen scored his first NHL goal and Ryan Miller made 27 saves as the Vancouver Canucks beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 last night. Bo Horvat had a goal and an assist, and Jannik Hansen and Matt Bartkowksi also scored for Vancouver. Claude Giroux scored for Philadelphia, while Steve Mason stopped 30 shots as the Flyers dropped their fourth in a row.
SEATTLE (AP) – A former cross-country ski coach at a Seattle private school has pleaded guilty to a charge related to secretly filming female students. Seattlepi.com reports 44-year-old Jason Christopher Paur pleaded guilty yesterday to transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. His sentencing is set for February in U.S. District Court.
RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette will undergo surgery to stabilize ligaments in his neck after being taken off the field on a backboard during Sunday’s game against Dallas. The Seahawks released a statement yesterday that Lockette will undergo surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
