PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon non-profit has filed a lawsuit seeking to reinstate a state law that would have allowed people to get driver’s cards if they can’t prove legal presence in the United States. In its lawsuit, the Oregon Law Center says it’s illegal for Oregon to enforce Measure 88, because it was motivated by a desire to regulate immigration laws and that’s the federal government’s job.
SEATTLE (AP) – A total of 39 people have been sickened with E. coli in the outbreak linked to Chipotle restaurants in the Pacific Northwest. Oregon health officials revised their number of cases down to 10 after further testing revealed some of the people previously suspected of being part of the outbreak had an unrelated illness. Chipotle officials say eight restaurants are connected to the outbreak.
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Police arrested a man accused of chasing people through a Corvallis park while dragging an ax and threatening them. Two Oregon State University students told police that the man followed them and said, “I’m the ax man. I’m gonna get you.” The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports that the students ran away and called police, who arrested 27-year-old Zachary Williams.
