Mapleton teams fall in season opener
The Powers Cruisers spoiled the opening night of basketball for the Mapleton Sailors last night in Powers. In the opening game for the girls, the Cruisers came out on top 38-16. The Powers boys defeated Mapleton in the nightcap, 49-18.
Oregon State bounces back with non-conference win
On the college court, Drew Eubanks had 17 points and nine rebounds as Oregon State beat Loyola Marymount 79-70 at Gill coliseum last night.
Olaf Schaftenaar scored 19 points; Gary Payton II added six points along with nine rebounds, nine assists and three steals for the 5-and-1 Beavers. Next up for the Beavers will be Nevada Saturday afternoon in Corvallis.
