OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – Police in Oregon City say a slow-moving landslide has led to evacuation orders for two apartment buildings. Residents of 10 apartments have been told to evacuate by 5 p.m. today. City officials have been monitoring a hill there since Dec. 14. On Friday a 70-year-old woman died and her husband was injured when a landslide struck their vacation home near Florence.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A high wind warning remains posted for the central Oregon coast up through the south Washington coast. The National Weather Service says there’s a potential for winds up to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph on beaches and headlands through late this afternoon.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police have released the names of the man killed and two injured in a shooting at a Portland motorcycle club. They say Demarcus Spencer was killed in the shootings at the Dahuru Motorcycle Club early Saturday. The two men wounded were taken to a hospital but their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) – A Klamath County couple was sentenced to more than seven years in prison each for the death of one of their 18-month-old twins. The Herald and News reports that Thomas Hevener and Danielle Hevener were sentenced Friday to 86 months in prison after being convicted of child neglect. As part of a plea agreement, charges of manslaughter were dropped. Lawyers for the couple had asked for probation, claiming the Heveners had no malicious intent and are in need of ongoing mental health treatment.
